Exhibition catalog (8 x 11.5 inches, 198 pages)
Parallel Reading: A Contemporary Survey of Language in Art is an art exhibition and catalog featuring 15 artists who have all dealt with text and language in their body of work. As the title suggests, by placing the role of the text central to their work, these artists thought to challenge the greater social, cultural, and political implications that are unique to their own time and place. While all artists approached their respective subject matter with text and language, they carried out their concepts through a wide range of techniques. As a result, textuality became what made each artist's work special. The designs of the exhibition and catalog are tailored specifically to this concept, while also seeking to challenge readers' behaviors of reading that text.
